Die Gattung lässt sich aufgrund der koralloiden HDS, dem Vorhandensein von polymorphen Cheilozystiden und den meist relativ kleinen amyloiden Sporen gut identifizieren. Die einzelnen Arten sind nicht einfach abzugrenzen.
